Introducing: Blue Roots Project
Welcome to the Blue Roots Project blog.
We’re thrilled to release Blue Roots Project—a year’s worth of research, brainstorming and prototyping (and then more brainstorming and prototyping)—and invite people around the world to participate. This blog is the space where we’ll be curating the best content and highlighting participants and groups making important contributions to this ongoing project.
Through story submissions, we hope to learn more about people and their connection to water—whatever that looks like in their lives and where they live. This project is not only about highlighting the problems and issues related to water; it’s also about reframing the conversation to consider how water is valued in our society.
Part of this conversation will take place at WATERSHED, a gathering of thought leaders during World Water Day 2017 on March 22 in Rome, Italy. #MyWaterStory contributions will be incorporated into these discussion to gather information and stories from outside the walls of the Vatican and across the globe.
But Blue Roots Project will exist beyond this event, gathering stories in the months leading up to and after WATERSHED and working with Project WET Foundation to provide resources for teachers educating the thought leaders of the future. When this team of Center for Emerging Media Design and Development graduate students move on, a new team will take over, turning all of the stories collected into a new phase of Blue Roots Project.
We’re not sure what this new phase will look like. It all depends on the stories–told in photos, artwork, videos, songs, tweets or however else you want. We look forward to hearing from you.
And don’t forget to follow along. We’ll be here on the blog every Monday and releasing a regular podcast, coming soon. So stay tuned to Blue Roots Project—as we create, together, a vision for the future of water.
